Christine Pinones, APRN, FNP-C, CPT, RYT is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about evidence-based integrative and lifestyle medicine. Chris utilizes a whole-body approach to medicine – addressing body, mind, spirit of each patient. She treats everyone as a unique individual and creates personalized, holistic treatment plans for each patient. Chris views healthcare as a partnership between provider and patient, respects her patients’ opinions and input, and genuinely enjoys collaborating with them to achieve their personal health goals.

Chris earned her master’s degree in nursing from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi in 2016, receiving recognition as Graduate Student of the Year and membership in Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. That same year, she achieved her FNP Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

She is a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), the American Academy of Functional Health (AAFH), the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). An avid researcher, Chris keeps current with the latest in conventional, complementary, and alternative medical advances by attending continuing medical education hosted by these and other professional organizations. Her particular interests are weight loss, healthy aging, stress management, anxiety, depression, metabolic disorders, cancer prevention, and sleep health.

As a Certified Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Texas, Chris is able to prescribe the typical conventional medical therapies, order labs or imaging, refer to other specialties, and prescribe prescription medications. However, she is not limited by conventional medicine. She also utilizes treatments not normally offered in conventional medical practices. Chris is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). A member of Yoga Alliance, she is currently pursuing certification as a Medical Therapeutic Yoga Specialist. These trainings and certifications allow her to offer unique treatments and special approaches to health and wellness. She is able to create individual fitness programs and apply Therapeutic Yoga modalities to help patients resolve or diminish symptoms for a multitude of conditions - chronic pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, asthma, attention deficit, irritable bowel syndrome, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, hormone imbalances, and weight gain (to name only a few).

During her nursing and medical career, Chris as worked in a variety of clinical, educational, and management roles in both civilian and military medical facilitates. She is a US Air Force veteran of Operation Desert Storm, where she served as a flight medic. Her clinical nursing and medical experiences are vast and encompass the emergency department, trauma ICU, medical-surgical, pre-op, operating room, post anesthesia care unit, hospice, and primary care. She has been involved in various levels of nursing and medical education - teaching nursing students at Blinn College, as well as managing all clinical staff and conducting research with the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency program.

Chris’ interest in and commitment to Integrative Medicine began in 2016, when she personally benefitted from integrative care as a cancer patient at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center in Houston, Texas. This experience allowed her to see healthcare from the point of view of a patient, rather than simply a provider. This unique perspective confirmed her already strong belief in the value of spending time with patients - time to really listen and get to know those trusting her with their healthcare. It also allowed her to benefit personally from an integrative medical approach. She saw how conventional medicine (prescription drugs, injections, surgeries, etc.) can work hand-in-hand with complementary treatments (nutrition, physical activity, supplements, etc.) and alternative treatments (acupuncture and mind-body therapies, etc.) to achieve the best possible outcome.

Chris is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She has been married to her husband, Tom for over 32 years. Together they have two married children and four grandchildren. She views her family as her greatest blessing and a source of genuine joy in life.

Chris brings these personal and professional experiences to her practice where she is committed to offering holistic and compassionate care, really listening to her patients, and respecting each as a unique individual made in the image of the Creator.

*A note from Chris about faith

Holistic care demands that we care for every person – body, mind, and spirit. Spiritual health is an essential component to overall well-being and cannot be ignored (even though it can be a touchy subject sometimes). My own personal faith informs who I am, as well as how I care for and love others. I have made my own personal decision regarding my faith. I want to say clearly that I respect each person’s right to make their own decision about spirituality and faith.

If given the opportunity, I will boldly tell you of my faith. I will share with you how a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has transformed my life. However, I will never demand you share my beliefs or judge you for your own. As I understand my faith, it requires that I share what I believe, but I am not responsible for convincing anyone to share my beliefs. My faith demands that I offer love, acceptance, and non-judgment. There is so much I do not know, but this I know with certainty. My Christian faith calls me to love and serve all those placed in my path each moment of each day. My faith does not call me to judge; that is God’s job. In fact, my faith, as I understand it, demands that I refrain from all judgement of others.

I believe that each of us was created in the image of God. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that his death and resurrection opened away for me to be forgiven of all the wrongs I have ever done or ever will do. Christ’s sacrifice offers a means for me to meet with and fellowship with God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Son.

This offer of forgiveness and fellowship is available to any who ask. If you are interested in knowing more, please ask me and I am happy to share how you can find the peace and love I have found.

If you are not interested, that’s ok. I promise you; I will still care for you to the very best of my ability and will do everything in my power to help you find your own way to spiritual peace.
